Favorite Designers: Jennifer Ferreira

I simply felt in love when I first saw the cover of this month's Canadian House and Home. I was immediately amazed by the Jennifer Ferreira's beautiful Toronto home.

But starting from the beginning. In 2000 Jennifer Ferreira joined the Gucci Group. Working for such a luxury fashion brands, have a creative influence on her as an interior designer. After five years, she decided to start her own interior design company - Ferreira Design. Her design direction is a celebration of commitment to luxury and style, which has made Ferreira Design synonymous with highest quality and exceptional beauty to interiors. Jennifer Ferreira style is classic and glamorous, evidenced through each detail of space. Her esthetic instincts translate into a crisp, clean look to all of her interiors.

And Jennifer Ferreira's Toronto home is just stunning. This is how I would see my own personal style - a classic, clean lines and neutral palette with distinguish black accents. A beautiful mix of romantic French and mid-century modern furniture. Lots of natural light. Art and personal touches throughout the space - but not cluttering it. Glamorous luxury details - the ornate mirror, the gilded inside of the pendant lamp and the bold, graphic zebra print. All very luxurious yet comfortable - loooove it!!!

And here are some things, inspired on Jennifer Ferreira's Toronto home, which I love the most:

Classic glamour meets cutting edge

Lately I was talking with my friend about our "fashion style". At first she told me that she really don't know her own style, but after a while she figured it out and even made a post about it. So partly inspired by our conversation and partly by her post, I've started thinking, which actress style is nearest to mine. It wasn't quite easy, because I've never been the type of person, whose have some kind of idol, in a matter of fashion or anything else. But if I really have to choose, I think that person, whose style I admire the most is Cate Blanchett.

She effortlessly transforms from silver screen beauty to futuristic femme. Cate possesses a sense of classic glamour. Her look is tailored but chic, classic and in the same time modern.

She usually keeps her hair, jewelry and make-up minimal. It helps her style appear effortless and provide the perfect canvas to show off outfit, without looking overdone.

And here is the look which I loooove the most!!!

Favorite Designers : Sheila Bridges

I've decided to start a new cycle of posts. It'll be about designers, which work I really admire, and which inspire me. And an interior designer Sheila Bridges will be the first to go.

She's an incredibly talented woman. Her many accomplishments include having her work featured in numerous magazines from House Beautiful, House & Garden to The New York Times, Elle Décor and In Style. She also has been named America's Best Interior Designer by Time Magazine. She's hosting a successful TV show on the Fine Living Network titled Sheila Bridges: Designer Living, authoring a wonderful decorating book titled Furnishing Forward: a Practical Guide to Furnishing for a Lifetime, designing her own lines of home textiles and outdoor furniture and working with clients such as former president Bill Clinton. Clearly there's lots to admire.

Another thing I love about Sheila is that she has an eye for color, flair for fabrics, and incredible sense of style.

Style:

Her style is eclectic - fusion of the modern and the classic. She flawlessly incorporates them, in such a way that when you walk into a Sheila Bridges' designed room, it's very sophisticated and in the same time calming and relaxing. She brings a simplicity combined with style to her work, a balance that's hard to achieve. “I enjoy mixing different styles and periods of furniture as well as combining different textures and patterns” says Bridges. "Drawing from a diverse range of styles is inherently interesting in decorating - it brings the space to life. I think it is also one way that you can make a space authentically yours.".

Color:

"I am especially fond of blues and greens. I like to experiment with different color combinations. On one project, it may be greens and grays, the next it may be pinks, yellows, and blacks, or blues and browns."

Inspiration:

“I’ve always been greatly inspired by the beauty of nature—things as simple as the texture or color of moss on a rock or the stripes of a bird’s feather. I always try to incorporate these elements into my work. I’m also greatly inspired by my travels. Some of my favorite design inspirations have come from Morocco, Southern Italy and parts of Asia—but I can also find inspiration in local destinations like South Beach in Miami or in New Orleans. I am like a sponge - soaking up all the visual cues and color combinations."

And one of my favorite projects of Sheila Bridges is her apartment in Harlem. It is spacious, airy and elegant. I adore especially the living space, painted in soft muted shades of blue and green, flooded with light and filled with antiques, fine art and many personal touches. Her study is also very interesting, where she painted the walls with quotes from her favorite books - just brilliant. Below are several photos which really give you a sense of the space. Harlem chic indeed!

And here are some things, inspired on Sheila Bridges' apartment in Harlem, which I love the most:

Welcome in Indonesia

I wish I could go to some nice, exotic place, like Bali Island or Thailand. Recently it is all I can think about. Unfortunately temporary it’s not going to happen. However this need is sooo strong, that it has totally influenced my interior esthetics. I always loved white furniture, but now I’m really into pieces made of dark, exotic wood, like for example Wenge. Or some exotic decor, like statue of Buddha, or things looking like made of wild animals’ skin.

And here are some of mine picks:

Less is more

I’ve decided to follow my new motto, which is „Less is more”, and so I’ve made some changes In my room. I figured out that instead of heaving two pieces of furniture, I would better think of something, that will combine their functions. So after considering few options, like for example buying something new (which btw wasn’t really an option while temporary I’m out of money), I’ve decided to throw away one piece and rotate the other one, so now it looks totally different. And this is the final result of my “little room revolution”.

In Suspension

First of all, welcome back! I've just came back from a beautiful Paris, in which I simply felt in love! Soon I will post something about this gorgeous city, but in the meantime, Ladies & Gentleman I have a pleasure to present You a new fabulous blog "In Suspension", written by a very good friend of mine. She's a true pop culture and literature lover, and now she also became a fan of beautiful interior stuff - to which I think I little bit contribute ;) Anyway if you expect new posts daily, then you might be a little bit disappointed (she's rather a lazy type), but if you'll visit it from time to time, then you'll be surely amazed by what you'll see. So enjoy!!!
